The fried shrimp were perfect, lightly breaded and yummy! My mom loved her oysters on the half shell. Sis had steak and stuffed shrimp, also delicious.
It's truly one of those, if you are in town, you need to stop and eat best seafood restaurant I've been too in a long long time
Food is always delicious. Oysters the favorite. Top Service.
In a city riddled with fast food chains and franchises, the Mohawk Tavern is a local cuisine oasis. This restaurant is no-thrills; don't expect garnish on your ribeye steak. What you can count on is great service and delish fresh food. The tavern has been an institution for the city for decades and is well worth a visit if you're looking for a true local experience.
First time there so ordered just the basic fish and shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Service was great, Lee was a perfect host. Wonderful atmosphere with that old time feel. Great place.
Always wonderful food and great service!
My steaks was over cook. It had a smell to it
Very good crawfish, gumbo, and shrimp po'boys.
This place is a must to eat at when you are in Monroe, La. The frog legs were flakey, juicy, and NOT chewy. The staff was very courteous and was always there asking if we needed anything else. Superb Service
It was ok at best. But I can say the banana fosters ice cream cake was the best. I could have just ordered it and been great
Great food. Great service.
Lee is a super waiter....good food...very hard working employees!!!very nostalgic...many fond memories....seems the woman that runs and owns the place is always unhappy and ungrateful...she ruined our last visit.....my family always has chosen the Mohawk unfortunately that was our last time to enjoy a meal there
Just as good as it was when I was in college at NLU in 69-73! Food, service, everything was great!
My family has eaten here for decades! Great food and service and I absolutely love that it’s still reminiscent of my childhood memories. Authentic Cajun cooking with Southern hospitality! A Monroe staple!!!
Another interesting place. The restaurant has apparently been in business continuously, in the same building, since 1952. Everything is clean and in order, but don't expect a modern layout or updated furnishings. This I'm sure is part of the appeal to most regulars. There are mounted fish and dead animal heads adorning the walls throughout, some of which were caught the year after I was born - which was quite some time ago:) The service is outstanding! Doesn't get any better no matter where you go. The oysters are fresh and delicious, and the beer is ice cold.
Great locally owned seafood place. Try the oysters!
Was very good food..it was packed, but we had arrived early on a Friday evening. It did take a bit to get everything delivered, it was a large party of us so very understandably slow. Our servers were fantastic even with the amount of demands we had.
Delicious... Best tartar sauce around.....
Great food, family & atmosphere!!
Great atmosphere! Awesome hang out spot if you just need to unwind or have a drink while enjoying some great seafood
Great food for at least 25yrs that I know of!!
Family tradition for several decades. Our favorite servers Lee and Bubba remember your favorites and are very attentive. Even when the place is super packed. Best boiled shrimp always.
Bright and beautiful Gulf oysters. Jumbo Shrimp po boy with homemade tartar sauce. That sauce is the truth. Local fave.
Very 'old school'. Food is good, can be a bit pricey though.
Man the oysters here are the best around. You CAN NOT get any fresher. The only way you would get fresher oysters is if you go diving for them yourself. And the staff here are super nice and spot on.
I grew up there, as my husband did. 50 years and more. Today, I called and asked if I could pay for a friends dinner. Credit over the phone. The girl said No.
Their raw oysters are second to none. Fried seafood is the best in town. The service is top-notch as always. Give yourself an hour or more to enjoy this great spot.
This was our first restaurant visit after the all the shutdown stuff and as usual, Mohawk didn't disappoint. Highly recommend.
went when I grow up here and it's awesome just like it was then 5 stars for sure
Been going here since the early 1960's. One of the best seafood restaurants in north North Louisiana
Sweet honey holeDont pass
Great food and excellent service!
Always happy to see you. Good food, great waiter.
Really nice place. Was completely satisfied with their service and their meals. The meals are very filling with a fair price. Definitely a place I would recommend to my friends and family. The people are really nice and frequently check on you to make sure you enjoy yourself. I couldn't be more impressed by a restaurant.
Went for the food, stayed for the atmosphere. Old school and quiet.
Visited for the first time and the seafood platter is by far the best I've had since I can remember!! Everything had its own great taste. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in town!!
Great place to eat everybody very courteous prices are very fair, been eating there for over 50 years whenever I'm in town
Atmosphere is perfect. The staff are always friendly. This place just feels like home. The food is familiar but not boring and its delicious.
Fried catfish and hush puppies were amazing. Tasty fries, kind service, well done gumbo, and a nicely layered crawfish etouffee.
Always great! Dion provided excellent service tonight.
We drive 500 miles to eat lunch here - really great
Fantastic Food and Service. The shrimp and oysters cant be beat.
Ask for Lee! This place is like stepping back in time. Gumbo, po boys, steak, and if you like bloody Mary's, get one! Theirs are the absolute best.
My Father ate here in the 1950s. He took his family in the 1970s to the present. It had become a tradition (especially with my mom) to come here during Christmas shopping to break for an ice cold draft, Shrimp Delight Salad , and a a Shrimp platter. I brought my future wife here in the 1990s and continue to bring her AND our two kids to enjoy the food and expierence! Thank you for following your parents and grandparents vision! Please don't tweak the original - remember the West Monroe location. 😉. Your staff are awesome!!
My mom took us here because she used to hang out at the Mohawk in the 60s. This place is a dive. They have two working florescent bulbs in the room we ate in so you can't see if the place is clean or not. The food was terrible and I don't say that often. I would have sent it back, but it took so long to get it I was starving. If you want good food in Monroe just go to the Waterfront Grill and skip the Mohawk.
Shrimp delight hits the spot on a warm afternoon.
Always the Best
Good food, great service, fair price, Good place to have a quality dinner. We had shrimp, catfish, steak, tuna and gumbo no one was disappointed
Must be good couldn't get in, to crowded
Definitely a place you want to try!!!
